This information is for all those who are interested in becoming a flirties trainer.
If you want to teach students and become part of our flirties team of trainers and curious to find out how it all works, please have a look at these frequently asked questions and let us know if you are unsure about anything so we can help!
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED?
In order to teach beauty courses you will need to be qualified (and experienced) in the actual treatment and you will also need your teaching qualification (AET as a minimum).
WILL MY INSURANCE COVER ME?
You will need to check with your insurance but in most cases you will need a teaching insurance (add on or separate policy) and you also need to check if you are covered for your students doing their case studies.
HOW MUCH DO I CHARGE?
Whilst we have stipulated minimum fees for the training courses to ensure that the whole team of trainers charges similar fees, it is flexible depending on your set up. If you offer to travel to students then you might want to choose more than a trainer who offers the courses in their home. Likewise if you are happy to offer 1-2-1 training you might want to charge a bit more for this than group training as it involves additional time for you.
WILL STUDENTS PAY ME DIRECTLY?
Yes, you can take the payment directly from the student and it is up to you which payment options you use.
From our experience we would recommend taking a booking fee to secure the training date and the rest being payable 2 weeks prior to the training date which will allow you to order the starter kits in time for the training so that students have everything there for the training day.
If your students are providing the models and need to patch test you can also amend the delivery address when you order to have the kit sent directly to your student (we would only recommend to do this once you have been paid).
There is no right or wrong as such so you can decide what will work best for you and your business.
DO I CHARGE SEPARATELY FOR TRAINING AND STARTER KIT?
We recommend to charge as a full training package including training and kit, however some trainers prefer to charge separately so it is a bit personal preference.
WILL I TEACH 1-2-1 OR GROUPS?
Depending on your set up and how much space you have you can decide how many students you can fit in. Our recommendation would be to offer small groups of up to 4 students, however if your space is limited or you prefer to just offer 1-2-1 then that is absolutely fine. Teaching groups of more than 4 students would only be recommended under special circumstances (for example specific workshops) or if 2 tutors are present to look after the students.
CAN I TEACH FROM HOME OR DO I NEED A TRAINING ROOM?
You can do either. If you have a spare room at home that you wish to use that is absolutely fine. Alternatively if you have a room in a salon (or want to rent one) for your training dates that is also fine, or you could do a combination of both depending how many students are booked for each course.
You could also consider offering in house training if a student prefers to learn in their own home or salon. It would be up to you if and how much more you charge for these options.
IS THERE A LIMIT OF HOW MANY STUDENTS I CAN OR SHOULD TEACH?
We found the most popular and reliable option to be 1-4 students as this will allow you to pay attention to each student and to ensure that you have enough time with each one to give them maximum support. Some students prefer to book 1-2-1 which you could offer at an additional charge to compensate for the extra time spent.
CAN I ADD MORE COURSES LATER?
Yes of course, you can either start with a full portfolio of courses so that you have a wider choice for students or, if you prefer you can just start with one or two courses that you believe to be most popular and then you can add further courses as you go along.
A lot of students will be keen to book other courses with you if they are happy with the training and it means you can gain loyal students who continue to book with you for their learning journey.
COMMISSION
CAN I GIVE MY CODE TO STUDENTS ONLY?
No, you can use the code online and you can also send it to new and existing students to encourage them to order the products via your link.
IS THERE A LIMIT OF HOW MUCH I CAN EARN?
No, there is no cap on this commission so you can be as proactive as you like. You are also welcome to recommend us online and in groups and forums and we try and keep an eye out so that we can reward any recommendations and positive posts or features. This is available to everyone so your students can also take advantage and earn a bit extra if they want to recommend us.
